Echo Festival 2013: Magda, Davide Squillace, Petre Inspirescu, Nick Hoppner, Delano Smith, Andrés & many more

Echo is an intimate festival showcasing some of the best names and emerging talents in electronic music, all set against the elegant landscape of the Adriatic coast of Croatia.

Walking through the pine forests of our new home, located in the region of Istria, our site rolls gently down to Kanegra beach and the crystal clear Adriatic Sea. Kanegra combines different terrains and elements to form a unique festival location, and our 3 different stages will host a selection of quality artists over 4 days and 4 nights.

With a diverse booking policy, our line-up features some genuine innovators who rarely perform together on the same line-up. We pride ourselves by juxtaposing artists such as Exit Records boss D-Bridge and John Roberts’ stunning live act, Rush Hour extraordinaire Braiden and NYC’s deep house don Fred P, and masked marauder Redshape and the UK underground’s finest XXXY. From drum ‘n bass, garage, bass and all the way to tough-talking techno, we promise to cater to everyone’s tastes!

To add to its charm, tickets are being offered at the very affordable rate of £65 and with plenty of cheap, easy options for accommodation within the festival site, Echo is potentially proving itself to be the coolest new kid on the block…

ARTIST LINE-UP & HIGHLIGHTS
Magda joined Richie Hawtin’s Minus imprint in 1998 in Detroit, and toured with him as opener for the ensuing decade, carving out her own distinctive sound in the process.

Her sound is emotional yet clinical, and with her break away from Minus to form her own label Items & Things, in recent years her audiences have seen yet another side to her sound and musical personality. We’ve watched her play several times and have been blown away be the sheer variety of influences, not to mention her ability to energise the crowd!

The legendary Italian producer Davide Squillace brings his unique and unparalleled groove to Echo this year. With tracks released on Ovum, Sci+Tek and Desolat amongst others, he is highly respected by producers around the world, both for his technically impressive sound-design and forward thinking, outside-the-box approach to creating music.

Holding his residency at Circoloco (DC10) for 5 years, an accolade held by luminaries such as Loco Dice, Luciano and Petre Inspirescu, gives an indication of his pedigree and has made him a highly sought after commodity at some of the biggest festivals across the globe. Leave your expectations at home with this guy, he?ll only blow them out of the water.

In his adoptive town, Bucharest, Pedro aka Petre Inspirescu has long been a pivotal figure alongside his frequent accomplices Rhadoo and Raresh. Four years ago he became resident at Circoloco (DC10) and since then, his way of feeling and understanding electronic music changed completely.

From the very beginning Pedro has been strongly affected by deep house tunes and the multitude variety of grooves ? not only in electronic music. His DJ sets are as sonically baffling as they are irresistibly groovy; as a producer, his tracks are as unhinged as they are methodical.

If you?ve listened to him at least once, you know what we?re talking about!

Crafting away in the dusty, static-coated and most unpredictable pockets of electronic music, Kassem Mosse is one of the most talked about artists of the last couple of years.

The German DJ/producer, real name Gunnar Wendel, has been behind some of the most curious and invigorating house and techno records, first coming to the spotlight with his seminal contributions to the Workshop series, and more recently to Boddika?s Nonplus+ label. Forever experimenting with the cheap equipment that defines his damaged, imperfect aesthetic, his sound is characterized as a warm, hazy mechanical funk that evolves slowly over time.

Beloved Detroit DJ, producer & J-Dilla affiliate Andrés – whose hit “New For U” topped many end of year lists as the #1 track of 2012 ? will also be setting sail Echo this year for a highly anticipated performance.

A former member of J-Dilla?s legendary hip hop outfit Slum Village (as DJ Dez), he?s been releasing some of the funkiest house music around since the late 90?s; music where every lick seems to drip with golden soul. With a string of releases on Moodymann?s established Mahogani Music and his own imprint La Vida, his sets are eclectic, fun and aimed straight at the party. Expect him to cross genres, do a bit of scratching and even get on the mic!

Located in Kanegra, near the picturesque town of Umag, our brand new site promises an as-yet-untouched festival setting, marrying the intense beauty of the Adriatic Sea with wild woodland backdrops.

We’ve recently been up to our stunning new beach where some of our biggest artists will be performing, and just had to share some of the pictures…
