Parsifal Kyoen EP (inc. Whitesquare Remix)

Producer and composer PARSIFAL (formerly one half of LVTECE) returns for his first solo release on Connected with a four track EP that includes an amazing remix from Italian maestro Whitesquare.

Parsifal is an Italian-Swiss DJ and composer living in Paris. His deep and afro house tracks are infused with instruments and percussion both played and sampled and bring deep, organic moods and texture to the fore. This latest EP further broadens the scope, looking to the Far East for inspiration.

Opening track ‘Kyoen’ sees energetic drums and bass support catchy synth and Kalimba melodies. Traditional Taiko drums and organic grooves surround the main elements till the breakdown, where a nostalgic lead drives us to the minimal and energetic drop, making this track a perfect tune for the dance floor. ‘Merodi’ means “melody” in Japanese and this song perfectly expresses this meaning: a never ending melodic synth drives us into an incredible sound space till the record drops to spine tingling effect.

The excellent ‘Lazarus’ is a hypnotic and progressive song characterised by an 80’s influence, mixed with contemporary synth textures, ambient beauty and a solid rhythmic groove. The last track, the Whitesquare remix, finds him taking the most important elements of Kyoen to create a unique and new track full of energy, groove and melodic vibes that make for moments of pure musical pleasure.

With electronic elements perfectly balanced with organic sounds and traditional Japanese drums, this is a magical and fascinating EP.
