Casbah 73 has had a busy year, whether it’s delivering intense Detroit-influenced jams & twisted house originals or releasing some essential edits, stripping and rebuilding those disco & jazz bombs for dancefloor duties to great effect. His joints have been supported by names you can trust like Gilles Peterson, Jazzanova, Danny Krivit or Belle And Sebastian’s Chris Geddes.
Following his recent dancefloor corkers on Lovemonk and Kat Records, Casbah 73 delivers four more servings of twisted groove gravy. “If You’re Leaving Part 1 & 2” starts off as a downtempo delight, only to shift gears and morph towards that sweaty, intense area of the club where bodies rub up against each other and one-night stands are born. “Too Cool To Be Careless” keeps it funky, raw and, er, cool, just below the 120 bpm, while the irresistible “All Night Long” is meant for exactly that: grooving to that ultrafunkular bass line until dawn, while closing track “I Want A Lot” adds some disco to the equation to keep that fire burning!
