Tact Recordings returns this May with Luke Black’s ‘Dry Flutter’ EP, backed with remixes from Matthew Burton & Kate Rathod.
Tact Recordings is now onto its sixth release, with strong original content garnering support along the way from heads like John Osborn, Aubrey, Jacques Renault and Agoria, while some underground heroes on remix duties, namely, Rick Wade, Mr.G and Tevo Howard further display what the label’s about. Here it welcomes back Berlin based Luke Black following his ‘Push’ track on the imprints ‘Tactics Vol.1’ VA last year.
The EP kicks of with ‘Dry Flutter’, a raw, moody, cut employing insistent percussion, blossoming melodies and dark pads as its driving force. ‘Feet In’ follows delving a little deeper with a dropped tempo feel, bubbling sub bass tones and sprinkles of Jazz instilled in the record. While the contrasting ‘Feet Out’ takes a different angle, opting for subtly evolving arpeggiator synth lines, a swirling atsmophere and delayed bass hits.
The latter stages of the release see two remixes offered up, the first of which is ‘Matthew Burton’s Break Mix’, as the name would suggest the feel is off-kilter with shuffling, broken drums, ethereal pads and a progressive feel. Matthew then teams up with production partner Kate Rathod for the duo’s ‘Shifted Remix’, embracing their signature low-slung, stripped vibe, with cosseting chords, rolling arps and a profound depth infused in the record.
